How do parlays work?
A parlay is one bet spread across several picks — every pick has to come in for it to pay, and the winnings multiply with each pick added. Members build them in Discord with /bet board, or on the Sportsbook page of their My Team pages on the website.
How members build one
In Discord: run /bet board, press Bet on a game, and pick the lines from the dropdowns — winner, spread, over/under and player props. Add Game puts another game on the same slip. The full walkthrough is in How do I place a bet, and how do I change the amount?.
On the website: members with a claimed team open Sportsbook on their My Team pages, tap a side on the games they fancy, and the bet slip at the bottom builds the parlay as they go.
On your phone
Members: tap My Team in the bottom bar, open your team page, then open the Team Pages menu at the top and pick Sportsbook (in a phone browser the menu is a dropdown). /bet board works exactly the same in the Discord app on a phone.
Commissioners: on a phone the XP Hub sits behind the green League button — the green circle with a sliders icon in the lower right of any league page (customers call it "the green slider"). Tap it, pick XP, then open the Dashboard Sections menu at the top (in a browser it is a dropdown) and pick Betting.
The rules of a parlay
- Every pick must win. One losing pick loses the whole parlay, no matter how the others went.
- The odds multiply. A parlay with several picks pays a large multiple of the stake by design — a big payout on a small stake is usually correct, not a fault. Payouts are capped at 25x the stake. That ceiling used to be 10x, which was quietly shaving ordinary four-pick tickets; they now pay what they are actually worth.
- One slip can cover several games. Members press Add Game to add another game to a slip they are already building. See Can one bet slip cover more than one game?.
- How many games can go in one is set by the commissioner: the Games In One Parlay box under Bet Sizes on the XP Hub's Betting tab.
Why a parlay sits open for weeks
A parlay grades only once every pick's game is final in your league export. One unplayed game holds the whole thing open no matter how the other picks went. So an old open parlay usually is not broken — it is waiting on a game nobody has played yet.
If the games really are all final and the parlay still has not graded, export your league from the companion app, then open XP → Betting and use Settle A Week Again for that week. It re-checks every bet on the week and is safe to run more than once.
Common problems
- "Why didn't I win?" One pick lost. A member can check each pick with
/bet historyin Discord or the Recent history section of their Sportsbook page. - The payout looks far too big. Parlays multiply. That is the point of them.
- A member cannot add more games to their parlay. They have hit the Games In One Parlay cap. You can change it under Bet Sizes on the XP Hub's Betting tab — press Save The Bet Sizes after.
/bet boardis missing. The Betting switch is off in the Features Hub — either directly, or because XP was switched off and took it along.
