How do I place a bet, and how do I change the amount?

Step by step

1. Type /bet board in any channel. Only you see what comes back.
2. You get this week's games, each with the spread and the over/under, and your XP balance at the top.
3. Press Bet on the game you want. The board turns into Your Slip.
4. Pick your lines from the dropdowns underneath — winner (moneyline), spread, over/under, and player props. Props run across several pages; use Previous and Next to move through them.
5. Press Change stake. A box opens called Change your stake — type the amount and press submit. The slip updates with your new stake and what it pays.
6. Press Place Bet when you are happy with it.

Changing the amount

The slip opens at your league's smallest bet. That is deliberate — it is the amount everybody can afford — and it is not a limit on what you can bet.

Press Change stake and type what you actually want.

The line just above the button always names what this league takes, like "Bet anything from 25 to 250". The typing box repeats the same two numbers in its label, so you never have to guess.

Whole numbers only. 250 works. 250.50 does not.

Commas and spaces are fine. 1,000 and 1 000 both mean a thousand.

Type something outside the range and nothing is placed — the slip comes back with "This league takes bets from X to Y", naming the real numbers for your league.

Every league sets its own bet sizes

There is no single amount that applies everywhere. Your commissioner sets Smallest Bet and Biggest Bet on the XP Hub's Betting tab, so 25 in one league and 5,000 in another are both perfectly normal.

To see yours: press Help on the board, or run /bet help. It prints Min stake, Max stake and Max legs for your league.

If your league's smallest and biggest bet are the same number, there is no Change stake button at all — there is nothing to change. The slip says "This league bets a flat X XP" instead.

Putting more than one game on the slip

Add Game keeps everything you have picked and takes you back to the board so you can pick another game. See Can one bet slip cover more than one game?.

The other buttons on the slip

• Place Bet — places it. The button counts your picks: Place Bet (3 legs).
• Add Game — puts another game on the same slip.
• Clear All — removes every pick but keeps the slip open.
• Cancel — throws the slip away. Nothing is charged.
• ✕ next to a pick — removes just that one.

What you get when it lands

A private receipt: Bet Placed Successfully, with your stake, what it pays if it comes in, how many picks it has, how many games it covers, and a short bet number at the bottom.

If your commissioner set a bets channel, a public slip posts there too — your name, your picks, the odds, and a Tail Bet button other members can press to copy your picks with their own stake.

Where to see your open bets

On the board: press My Bets for what is still running, or History for what has settled.

Anywhere in Discord: /bet active and /bet history.

On the website: open your team page and pick Sportsbook from the Team Pages menu — your open bets and recent history are both there.

When the lines lock

At kickoff. Once a game has been kicked off in Madden, it shows on the board as 🔒 LOCKED and its Bet button is greyed out.

We check again at the moment you press Place Bet, so a game that kicked off while you were building the slip is refused there and then — by name — and nothing is charged.

Your own matchup is never bettable. It shows 🚫 Your matchup on the board with the button greyed out.

Common problems

• "It won't let me set an amount." The amount is not typed into the command any more — there is no amount to fill in on /bet. Open the slip (/bet board → Bet), then press Change stake.
• "It always starts at the minimum." That is by design. The slip opens at the smallest bet your league takes so the first click can never be refused. Press Change stake to raise it.
• "I can't bet that much." Either the number is above your league's Biggest Bet, or you do not have the XP. Both come back as a plain sentence naming the real number. If your league charges betting tax, the charge is a little more than the stake, and the message shows both figures.
• "There's no Change stake button." Your league's smallest and biggest bet are set to the same amount, so there is only one legal stake.
• "It says I already have too many bets." Your commissioner has capped how many bets one member can hold at once. Wait for one to settle. /bet active shows what you have running.
• "It says I've used my betting limit." Some leagues cap how much XP one member can bet per week. The message names how much you have used and how much is left.
• "Session expired." A slip you left sitting is eventually cleared. Run /bet board and build it again — nothing was charged.
• "My bet hasn't settled." A bet grades when its game is final in your league's export, and a parlay waits for the last of its games. If every game really is final, ask a commissioner to run Settle A Week Again on the XP Hub's Betting tab.
• "The game was force-won or simmed." Picks on a game nobody actually played are graded as a push — that pick pays nothing and costs nothing, and your stake comes back if the whole slip pushes. Player props on an unplayed game would otherwise be a coin flip against you.
• "/bet is missing." Betting is switched off in your league. Ask a commissioner — it lives in the Features Hub, and switching XP off takes betting with it.
