How do I match each team to a Discord role?
Match every team in your league to a Discord role on the Teams Hub's Team Roles tab. Once that is done, giving somebody their team's role is the whole job — the bot works out who owns what from that one action.
Where to find it
On the website: open the Teams Hub in the sidebar, then the Team Roles tab.
On your phone: More → Teams, then pick Team Roles from the Choose a section dropdown.
What this tab is for
This is the map between your Discord server and your league. Eagles role means the Eagles. Without it, the bot has no idea which of your roles is a team and which is a colour tag somebody made in 2023.
Everything team-shaped depends on it: team pings, trades, claims, the waitlist, and every automation below.
Assigning a team is one action, not five
Give the member their team's Discord role. That is it.
Franchise Hub sees the role land and does the rest, using the four switches in the Automatic team assignment card at the top of this tab:
- Rename member to their team — uses the in-game team name as their server nickname.
- Remove waitlist role — takes the onboarding role back off them.
- Add Active role — marks a new owner active, unless an Active Check says otherwise.
- Add League Member role — gives them the configured League role.
You do not need to do any of those by hand, and doing them by hand instead of giving the team role does not register the owner. If you take one thing from this page, take that.
Each switch can be turned off if your league prefers to handle that part itself. Press Save automation after changing them.
Step by step
- Open the Team Roles tab. If your Madden league is connected, the table lists your real teams — including relocations and custom names.
- For each team, pick its Discord role from the dropdown in the Discord Role column and press that row's Save. Each row saves on its own.
- If a team has no role yet, press Create Role on its row — the bot makes the role in Discord and maps it in one press.
- Hand the roles out in Discord.
The pill at the top of the table keeps score — it tells you how many of your teams are mapped.
What each row gives you
- Held By — who has that role right now. If nobody does, the row says "Nobody has this role yet".
- Save — saves that row's mapping on its own.
- Clear — unmaps the team. Anyone who already has the role keeps it in Discord until you remove it there.
- Create Role — shown when a team has no role yet. Makes it and maps it in one press.
Keeping role names matched after a relocation
The Match team role names to in-game team names card has a switch — Rename team roles to match in-game names — that renames a team's Discord role when that team relocates in Madden. Eagles becoming Dragons, and the role following along. It is off by default, and only relocated teams are renamed.
Sync names now does it once, immediately.
The bot needs the Manage Roles permission for this, and its own role must sit above your team roles — same as everything else here.
Common problems
- I gave somebody the team role and nothing happened. Check that team is actually mapped on this tab. An unmapped team is invisible to the bot. Then check the bot's role sits above the team roles in Discord's role list.
- Held By is empty for a role somebody definitely has. The bot could not read your member list just then. Refresh the page.
- The table says no teams loaded. Your Madden league is not connected yet. Connect it first — the teams come from the game.
- I cleared a team by mistake. Nothing was taken off anybody. Pick the role again from the dropdown and press Save.
- The table will not let me change anything. Only whoever manages roles can change these. Ask the league owner for that access under Front Office → League Access.
