How do I track member activity?
The bot can count messages, reactions and voice time, and once a day hand your Active role to everybody clearing the bar and your Inactive role to everybody who has gone quiet. The settings live in the Activity Tracking card on Moderation → Active Check.
Where to find it
- Open the sidebar → Moderation → Active Check tab. On a phone, open More, tap Moderation, and pick Active Check from the Choose a section dropdown.
- Scroll past the Active Check card to the Activity Tracking card. They are two different tools on one tab: Active Check posts a check-in owners must answer; Activity Tracking watches quietly and needs nobody to do anything.
Step by step
- Switch Activity Tracking on. Recording starts from that moment; there is no history to look back on.
- Open the What Counts As Active drawer and set Quiet For This Long Is Inactive — how many days of silence before somebody counts as inactive.
- Set Messages Needed, and if you want them, Reactions Needed and Voice Minutes Needed. Anything at zero is not counted.
- Press Save Activity Tracking, then leave the two role switches off for a week while you watch what the numbers actually say about your league.
- Pick your Active and Inactive roles under Front Office → Special Roles, then come back and switch on Give The Active Role and Give The Inactive Role.
It runs once a day, and the week restarts on Sunday
The hand-out is daily, not instant. Somebody who clears the bar this afternoon gets the role on the next run. That is deliberate — a role that flickers on and off all day is worse than useless.
The counts are measured over a fixed week that restarts every Sunday (Eastern time). Everybody starts each week from zero, so Active is re-earned rather than earned once and kept forever.
One box to leave alone
- Roster Moves Needed should stay at 0. Nothing currently adds to that count, so any number above zero means nobody can ever clear the bar and nobody gets the Active role.
Nothing is handed out without the roles
The daily run looks for the Active and Inactive roles you picked under Front Office → Special Roles. If neither is set, it runs, finds nothing to do, and stops. This is by far the most common reason "I turned it on and nothing happened".
When it hands out the Inactive role it takes the Active role off the same person, and the other way round, so nobody ends up wearing both.
Where the other cards went
The old Activity screen also held two extras. They have their own homes now:
- Blocking Discord invite links — Moderation → Spam Control.
- Stopping one member's player alerts — the Stop A Member's Alerts card on Moderation → Member Log. Use it when somebody leaves, or their alerts get noisy; they can set new ones up whenever they like.
Common problems
- Nothing happened after I turned it on. Either no Active or Inactive role is picked under Front Office → Special Roles, or the daily run has not happened yet. Give it a day.
- The numbers look too low. The bot only sees channels it can read. A private channel where your league actually talks is invisible to it.
- Somebody who plays every week looks inactive. It counts talking, not playing. Somebody who plays all their games and never types will look quiet here. Worth remembering before you act on it.
- The bot cannot add the role. Discord will not let it hand out a role above its own. Drag the bot's role higher in Discord's role list.
