How do head-to-head wagers work?
A wager is a head-to-head bet between two members on their own game — one challenges, the other accepts, and the winner takes double the stake. It all happens in Discord with /wager create, and it settles itself when the game's result comes through.
How a wager works
- A member runs
/wager createin Discord and names an amount. The challenge goes to whoever they are playing that week — they cannot pick an arbitrary opponent. - Their opponent accepts or declines with the buttons on the challenge.
/wager pendinglists any challenges waiting on them. - When the game is played and the result comes through your league export, the wager settles by itself.
- The winner takes double the stake. A tie refunds both members.
A challenge that is never accepted expires on its own, and a pending challenge moves no XP — nothing is taken from anyone until both members are in.
Members can check their own with /wager active, or on the website: the Sportsbook page of their My Team pages has a Team wagers section with their active wagers and their wager history.
On your phone
The whole flow works from the Discord app — /wager create, the accept buttons and /wager pending are the same on a phone. To see the Team wagers section: tap My Team in the bottom bar, open your team page, then open the Team Pages menu at the top and pick Sportsbook (in a phone browser the menu is a dropdown).
Commissioners: Settle A Week Again lives on the XP Hub — on a phone, tap the green League button in the lower right (the green circle with a sliders icon — customers call it "the green slider"), pick XP, then choose Betting from the Dashboard Sections menu at the top.
When a wager will not settle
Wagers settle when the game's result arrives in your league export. If a wager is sitting unsettled after the game was played, the export is almost always behind — export your league from the Madden companion app and the result will follow.
If the score is in and a wager is still stuck, a commissioner can put it right: the Settle A Week Again card on XP → Betting re-checks every bet and every head-to-head wager on the week. It is safe to run — nothing is ever paid out twice. See How do I settle a week of bets again?.
Common problems
- A member says they were charged for a wager the other person never accepted. Pending challenges move no XP. Have them check
/wager active— if the wager is not there, nothing was taken. - The wager did not settle after the game. Export your league again. The bot grades against the scores your last export gave it. Still stuck with the right score showing? Run Settle A Week Again on XP → Betting for that week.
/wageris missing from Discord. Wagers are part of betting. The Betting switch is off in the Features Hub — either directly, or because XP was switched off and took it along.
