How do I set up XP for the first time?

Turn the feature on at Features → XP, then work through the XP Hub's Rules & Setup tab: pick your XP icon, choose the channels XP posts in, and decide whether balances wipe at a new season. The defaults are sensible — you only need to change what you have an opinion about.

Where to find it

On the website: Dashboard → your server → XP → the Rules & Setup tab

In the app: More → XP, then pick Rules & Setup from the XP sections dropdown

What lives on Rules & Setup

  • The XP Icon — the little picture beside every XP number the bot prints. Tap one of the ready-made icons or paste one of your own server emojis, then press Save The XP Icon. A server emoji of your league crest makes the whole economy look like yours.
  • Where XP Gets Posted — the channel for Upgrade Requests, the channel for XP Receipts (the card posted every time XP moves), and a private Upgrade History channel for approvals and refusals. Press Save The XP Rooms.
  • Starting Each Season Fresh — off by default. Turned on, every team's XP drops to zero the moment your league advances into a new season. Trophies and levels are kept either way, so a reset only clears the spending money. Press Save The Season Rule.
  • XP Tax — off by default, and its own subject: see Set up XP tax.

Step by step

  1. Turn the feature on: Features → XP. The XP row appears in your sidebar once it is on.
  2. Open XP → the Rules & Setup tab.
  3. Pick your icon and press Save The XP Icon.
  4. Pick the channels in Where XP Gets Posted and press Save The XP Rooms.
  5. Decide on Starting Each Season Fresh and press Save The Season Rule.
  6. Move on to the Upgrades tab to choose how upgrades work — see Choose how players are upgraded — and the Earning tab for what wins pay out.

Things that moved

If you remember the old Setup tab, two of its settings live elsewhere now:

  • The reward for boosting your Discord server is on the Earning tab, in the Thank-You For Boosting Discord card, next to every other way members earn XP.
  • The admin role and the rest of your league's roles are set in the Front Office Hub, not here.

Common problems

  • My change didn't take effect. Each card has its own Save button. Saving the icon does not save the season rule, and neither saves the channels.
  • The XP icon shows as an empty box. Some emoji have no picture in certain fonts. Pick another one from the grid, or use one of your own server emojis.
  • The XP row is not in my sidebar. The feature is off — turn it on at Features → XP. Balances are hidden while it is off, not deleted.
  • A booster got nothing. Check the Thank-You For Boosting Discord card on the Earning tab is switched on, and that the booster has claimed a team — the reward is paid to their team.
