How do I reward members for inviting people?

Where to find it

On the website: click XP in the sidebar, then the Earning tab, then scroll to the XP For Inviting People card.

In the app: tap More, then XP, then pick Earning from the XP sections dropdown.

What it is for

Recruiting. When somebody joins through a member's invite link, that member's team is paid XP. If the newcomer leaves again quickly the XP is taken straight back, so nobody profits from padding the numbers.

Out of the box the reward is 500 XP with a 7-day hold, and it is switched off until you turn it on from the board.

Step by step

1. Open XP → Earning and find the XP For Inviting People card.
2. Under Where To Post The Board, pick the channel the board should live in. Everyone who can see the channel can read it, but only your commissioners can use its buttons.
3. Press Post The Invite Board. The bot posts the Invite XP Rewards board there and then.
4. Go to that channel and use the buttons on the board:

   • Turn ON / Turn OFF — the master switch.
   • Set XP Amount — how much a successful invite pays.
   • Set Hold Days — how long the newcomer has to stay, from 0 up to 365 days.
   • View Active Credits — who is currently waiting out a hold window.

The board updates itself every time you change something, so it always shows your live settings.

How the hold window works

• Someone joins on a member's invite → that member's team is paid straight away, and a receipt posts in the XP receipts channel.
• If that person leaves before the hold window is up → the same amount is taken back off the team, with a receipt saying why. If the team has since spent it, only what they still hold is collected — the take-back stops at zero rather than putting them in debt.
• If they are still there when the window ends → the XP is theirs for good.

Set the hold to 0 days and the XP locks in immediately, with no take-back.

Common problems

• Nothing is being paid. Four things to check, in this order: the board says ON, the XP amount is above zero, the inviter has claimed a team, and Discord can still see the invite link that was used. An invite that was deleted, or expired and remade, credits nobody.
• The buttons refuse a helper. The board's buttons work for commissioners, co-commissioners and server admins. To let another role use them, grant the invite command to that role in Front Office → Admin Commands.
• A member invited the same person twice and was only paid once. That is deliberate. Once a person has been paid for, they never pay again — even if they leave and rejoin months later. Without that rule, "invite an alt, wait, have them leave and rejoin" prints XP forever.
• A take-back collected less than it paid out. If the team has already spent the money, only what they still hold comes back. A team paid 500 XP that has 200 XP left gives up 200, and the rest is written off — this take-back never pushes a team below zero. The receipt names the amount actually collected.
• A team's balance is negative. This is not the take-back — that always stops at zero. A balance below zero comes from a commissioner adjustment, which is deliberately allowed to dock a team below nothing on purpose.
• The reward paid more than I set. A Double XP boost was running when they joined. The boosted figure is the one the take-back asks for if they leave, so the numbers balance as long as the team still has it.
• I want to move the board. Pick the new channel on the card and press Post The Invite Board again. The card says it posts again each time you save; the new post becomes the live board.
