How do I set up the teams board?
Open Teams → Team Assignments. That one tab puts the teams board in Discord and keeps it fresh, shows which teams have nobody in them, and records each member's in-game EA name.
Where to find it
On the website: press Teams in the sidebar, then the Team Assignments tab.
On your phone: tap More → Teams, then pick Team Assignments from the Choose a section dropdown.
What this tab is for
The Teams Board in Discord. The teams board is one permanent post that lists every team, who owns it, and which seats are open. It re-writes itself as people come and go.
Who Owns What. A team is open when nobody holds its team role. The Team Status table shows every team, its owner's in-game name, and whether it is Open, Taken, or has no role mapped yet.
Gamertags. Discord names and in-game names are almost never the same. The EA / Gamertag Registry ties the two together for anyone the bot has not matched by itself — once a member is in it, their real in-game name shows on the teams board and in stats.
Step by step
- Under The Teams Board in Discord, pick a Board Channel. The channel picker is right on this card now — there is no separate settings page for it any more.
- If you use the waitlist, pick an Open-Team Pings Channel too. That is where the waitlist is pinged when a team opens.
- Decide whether Sync owner names from team-role assignments should be on. On, the board follows your Discord roles by itself.
- Press Save board config. That is the button that actually posts the board.
- Add in-game names as people join — either under Gamertags here, or with
/team info set_ea_namein Discord. This part is optional.
The two switches on this tab
Both are on unless you turn them off, and both keep your channel choices either way.
Keep the board up to date sits under the board's own save button. Off, the board stops re-writing itself as owners come and go — it sits showing whatever it last showed. Pressing Refresh the board still redraws it by hand, so switching this off freezes the automatic updates without taking away your ability to update it yourself.
Post in the pings channel at all sits on the Open-Team Pings card. Off, nothing posts in that channel at all: no open-team announcements, no waitlist reminders, and none of the bot's own notices about team roles that need attention. It is the broader of the two waitlist switches — Ping when a team opens only decides whether those announcements mention anybody.
How a team opens and closes
A team's status follows its Discord role, and nothing else: the moment the team role comes off somebody, the team is open. Give the role out and it is taken. There is no button to force a team open any more — if a team shows as taken and should not be, somebody still holds the role, and the answer is to take the role off. Roles are managed on the Team Roles tab.
Common problems
- The board says Not Installed. The board only exists once you have picked a Board Channel and pressed Save board config.
- The board is stale. Press Refresh the board. It updates the existing post in place rather than making a new one. If it keeps going stale on its own, Keep the board up to date is switched off.
- Nothing posts in the Open-Team Pings channel. Check Post in the pings channel at all is on. Off, that channel is silent no matter what else is set.
- Every team says "No role yet". The bot has no Discord role mapped for those teams. Open the Team Roles tab and map or create them.
- No teams are listed at all. Nothing has been loaded from Madden yet. Connect your league first — that lives on Overview, under EA Connection.
- A team shows as Taken but nobody plays it. Someone still holds that team's Discord role. Take the role off and the team turns open by itself.
- The Owner column says "EA name not set". The bot knows who holds the team but not their in-game name. Add it under Gamertags on this tab.
