How do I use the Twitch page?

Twitch lives in the Extras Hub, on its Twitch tab. When a linked member goes live, the bot posts a shout-out in the channel you choose; their finished recordings and clips post themselves too, and the bot can even cut your game recordings into highlights.

Where to find it

On the website: press Extras in the sidebar. The Twitch tab is the first one.

On your phone: tap More → Extras, then pick Twitch from the Choose a section dropdown.

What it does

Three things, running on their own once they are set up:

  • Go-live shout-outs. A linked member starts streaming and the bot announces it, pinging whoever you chose.
  • Recordings and clips. New recordings and clips from linked streamers post into the channels you pick.
  • Automatic highlights. Optional. The bot can watch a finished game recording for scores and either post clickable timestamps or cut each score into a short video.

A banner at the top of the tab tells you honestly whether posts are being sent right now, switched off, or waiting on a channel.

RedZone has no clips — the five-point checklist

If a game got recorded but no clips ever show up, all five of these have to be true. Work down the list in order — it's almost always the first one that isn't checked:

  1. The streamer linked Twitch. /twitch link in Discord, or add them under Members And Their Channels below. Check with /twitch status.
  2. The stream title has your Title Word in it. See "The one rule everybody misses", below — this is the single most common miss.
  3. Twitch's own "Store past broadcasts" setting is on, on Twitch's own site (desktop only — this is a Twitch account setting, not a Franchise Hub one). Without it, Twitch deletes the recording before anything can be cut from it.
  4. A Clips Channel is picked, under Recordings And Clips on this tab.
  5. Recap is switched on, on the Recap tab right next to this one in Extras.

Clips can take a few hours to appear after a game — that's normal, not a sign something is broken.

The one rule everybody misses

Streams only count when the stream title contains your Title Word.

No Title Word in the title means no go-live post, no clips, no scanning — for that stream, silently. You set it under Going Live, and most leagues use their league name. Tell every streamer in your league what it is. This one sentence is the difference between Twitch posts working and Twitch posts appearing broken.

Step by step

  1. On the Twitch Posts card, make sure Post Twitch Updates is on, and press Save.
  2. On the Going Live card, leave Post Go-Live Shout-Outs on, pick the Go-Live Channel, set your Title Word, and choose Who Gets Pinged. Press Save Go-Live Settings.
  3. On the Recordings And Clips card, leave Post Recordings and Post Clips on, pick a Recordings Channel and a Clips Channel, and press Save Channels.
  4. Under Members And Their Channels, link each streamer: pick the member, paste Their Twitch, and press Link Them. Their team badge comes from their Discord role. Members can also link themselves with /twitch link in Discord, and check with /twitch status.
  5. If you want highlights, pick a mode under Automatic Highlights and press Save Highlights.

Turning one kind of post off

There are four switches, and each one stops a single kind of post. All four are on unless you turn them off, and none of them clears the channel above it.

  • Post Twitch Updates, on the Twitch Posts card, is the big one. It stops everything Twitch at once — shout-outs, recordings and clips. This is the off-season switch.
  • Post Go-Live Shout-Outs, on the Going Live card, stops only the "now live" announcement. Finished recordings and clips still post, and highlight scanning still runs. It covers YouTube go-lives as well, because those share the same channel and the same ping.
  • Post Recordings and Post Clips, on the Recordings And Clips card, stop one each and leave the other alone.

What none of them do is unlink anybody. Every member you have linked stays linked, every channel you picked stays picked, and your Title Word is untouched. Switch one back on and it starts again with nothing to set up.

Saved Clips is a notebook further down the tab and none of these switches touch it.

Automatic highlights

Three choices, and it starts on Off:

  • Off — nothing extra happens. The recording link still gets posted.
  • Timestamps — one message with links that jump to each score.
  • Clips — the bot also cuts each score into a short video.

Both scanning modes read the whole video, so they cost the same to run — the card says roughly 15 to 25 cents per three-hour stream. Only the finished recording is scanned, and only when its title carries your Title Word.

The rest of the tab

  • Saved Clips — a notebook. Paste a clip address and a few words like "Week 3 goal-line stand at 1:42:30", so your league can find highlights later. This one works on every plan.
  • YouTube Channels — YouTube channels to watch. New videos post automatically. Also works on every plan.
  • Use Your Own Twitch Connection — folded away at the bottom, and most leagues never need it. Your league shares Franchise Hub's own connection to Twitch by default, and that is fine for almost everybody.

The weekly highlight show has its own tab now — Recap, right next to Twitch in the Extras Hub.

Common problems

  • A streamer went live and nothing posted. Work down in this order: is Post Twitch Updates on, is Post Go-Live Shout-Outs on, is their channel linked under Members And Their Channels, was the Title Word in the stream title, and is a Go-Live Channel picked. The banner at the top of the tab tells you which state you are in.
  • It worked and then stopped for one person. Their link was removed — either they ran /twitch unlink, or somebody pressed Unlink. Check the linked list and link them again.
  • The posts have no team badge. The streamer is not linked to a member with a team role, so there is no team to draw. Link them under Members And Their Channels.
  • Recordings post but go-live shout-outs do not. Post Go-Live Shout-Outs is off on the Going Live card. It is the one switch that silences shout-outs on their own.
  • A game got recorded but no clips ever showed up. See "RedZone has no clips — the five-point checklist", above. It's almost always the Twitch "Store past broadcasts" setting, or the Recap tab not being switched on.
  • Nothing at all is happening any more. Check Post Twitch Updates on the first card. It stops every Twitch post — which is exactly what you want in the off-season, and exactly what you forget you did.
  • The tab says this needs a bigger plan. Twitch posts, clips and member links need the Elite plan. Saved Clips and YouTube Channels work on every plan, and the cards say so.
  • The Teams Hub — team roles are what give streams their team badge
