Where to find it
On the website: click Extras in the sidebar, then the Messenger tab at the top of the page.
In the app: tap More, then Extras, then pick Messenger from the Extras sections dropdown.
This feature used to be called "Discord Messenger", and before that "Embeds". Same feature, new home.
What it does
The tab is in two halves.
On the left is Write A Message — the message you are writing. On the right is Your Saved Messages — your library. Everything you have built, whether it has been posted or not; rows that went out carry a Posted mark. Under the library, an Already Sent drawer lists your most recent sends and who sent them.
Saved messages are what you could send. Already Sent is what you did.
What you can put in a message
- Message Name — just for you, to find it again. Members never see it.
- Headline and Message — the actual message.
- Colour — the stripe down the left side.
- Where It Goes — required. Nothing can be sent without a channel.
- Who Gets Notified — Nobody, everyone online, every member, or one of your roles.
- Keep It Up To Date — editing this later updates the message already posted.
- Extra Touches — a drawer of optional dressing: Small Name Above The Headline, Picture Beside That Name, Sign-Off, Small Picture, and Big Picture.
Step by step
- Open Extras → Messenger.
- Give it a Message Name you will recognise later.
- Write the Headline and the Message.
- Pick the channel under Where It Goes.
- Leave Who Gets Notified on Nobody unless it genuinely is urgent.
- Press Save It to keep it for later, or Save And Send Now to post it straight away.
Sending the same message twice does not post it twice
This is the part that surprises people, and it is deliberate.
Once a message has been posted, Franchise Hub remembers which message in the channel is that one. Send it again and it edits the message that is already there rather than dropping a second copy underneath. Fix a typo in the rules, press Save And Send Now, and the rules post members are looking at quietly corrects itself.
Even a plain Save It on a message that has already been posted updates the live copy in Discord — the page tells you so when it happens.
If somebody deleted that message in Discord, there is nothing left to edit, so sending posts a fresh one.
Editing replaces. Starting fresh is how you branch
When you press Edit on a saved message, the left card becomes Edit This Message — and saving writes over that message. It does not make a copy.
One commissioner reported that the page "won't let me save more than three messages". It was saving every single time — over the same one, because they kept editing the message that was already open.
So the rule is:
- Save It while editing — changes this message.
- Start A New Message — puts the editor back to blank so you can write a separate message without touching the one you had open.
If you are building a family of similar posts, write each one as its own new message.
Common problems
- I edited a message and Discord changed on its own. That is correct. If the message has already been posted, saving updates the live copy in the channel at the same time. There is no second step.
- I edited a message and Already Sent did not add a row. Also correct. That list is a record of things that went out, not of edits.
- I deleted a saved message and it is still in my channel. Deleting removes it from your library here. It does not reach into Discord and delete the post — the page warns you of exactly that. Delete the post in Discord yourself.
- It says it cannot post. Almost always the bot cannot see or write in the channel you picked. Check the bot's permissions on that channel, then try again.
- Everyone got pinged and I did not mean to. Who Gets Notified is saved with the message. If you saved it as Every member once, every future send pings again. Open it and set it back to Nobody.
- Another commissioner cannot see this tab. What a helper sees is decided by the owner in Front Office → League Access.
