How do I use the RSS Feeds page?

Point Franchise Hub at a news site and it drops that site's new stories straight into one of your channels, so your league always has something to talk about. Give it the site's feed address, say where the stories should land, and leave it running.

On the website: Dashboard sidebar → Extras, then the RSS Feeds tab

In the app: More → Extras, then pick RSS Feeds from the section dropdown

What it does

A quiet Discord is the thing that kills a league. This is the cheapest fix for it: real NFL news, arriving on its own, in a channel people already read.

The bot checks each source you add every fifteen minutes and posts anything new it has not seen before. The same story is never posted twice, however many times it is checked.

Adding a source

Four things go in the Add A News Source card, then press Add This Source:

  • Address Of The Site's Feed — not the website address, the feed address. Most sports sites publish one; look for a link called RSS, or search for the site's name plus the word feed. It has to start with http:// or https://.
  • What To Call It — just for you. It names the source on this tab and nowhere else.
  • Where The Stories Land — any text channel.
  • Colour — the stripe down the side of each story when it posts. It comes pre-filled, so you can leave it alone.

What a running source looks like

Each source gets its own row under Your Sources, with a Running or Paused badge and the channel its stories land in.

Pause It stops the stories without losing the source — Start It Again picks straight back up. Remove deletes it for good.

The first few hours are the quiet part

Two things surprise people about a brand new source.

First, nothing appears instantly. The next check may be up to fifteen minutes away.

Second, the very first check deliberately skips anything published more than a day ago. Without that, adding a busy news site would dump a wall of yesterday's headlines into your channel the moment you saved it. You get the news from here on, not the backlog.

There is also a cap of five stories per check, so a site that publishes twenty things at once trickles in rather than flooding.

Common problems

  • I added it and nothing has posted. Give it fifteen minutes. If nothing arrives after that, the address may not be a feed — open it in a browser and see whether it returns a page of raw story data rather than a normal website.
  • A source's row says its channel is gone. The channel was deleted or the bot lost permission to read it. Nothing is being posted for that source. Remove it and add it again against a channel that works.
  • Stories stopped arriving for everything at once. Feeds only run for a league with an active licence. If yours has lapsed, every source goes quiet at the same time and starts again when it is renewed.
  • A story got posted twice. The bot only remembers what it has already seen per source, so the same story from two different sources will appear twice. That is two sources, not one bug.
  • I paused one by accident. The badge on its row says Paused. Press Start It Again.
  • The colour picker did nothing. The colour is the stripe on the posted story in Discord, not anything on this tab.
