How do I turn on Team waitlist?
It is already on. This is the master switch for the whole waitlist — the queue members join while they are waiting for a team. Leave it alone unless you want to run your league without a queue at all.
Where to find it
- Open your dashboard and click Teams in the sidebar. On your phone, tap More, then Teams.
- Open the Team Assignments tab. On your phone, pick Team Assignments from the Choose a section dropdown.
- Scroll down to Who Is Waiting for a Team. The switch is on the Team Waitlist card — it is labelled Let members join the waitlist — and it has its own Save button.
What it does
Lets members queue up for a team, so you always know who is next in line. When a team opens, the bot announces it and mentions the people in the queue — and keeps reminding them every 4 hours while the seat stays open.
Turn the switch off and the Join Waitlist button comes off the teams board, nobody new can queue, the queue stops being mentioned, and the reminders stop — open teams are still announced. Turn it back on and your queue comes back exactly as it was; nobody is lost.
Managing the queue
Everything lives on the same Team Assignments tab, right under the switch:
- The Queue shows everyone waiting, in the order they joined, with a Remove button next to each person.
- Add Someone to the Waitlist lets you queue a member yourself — leave the position blank to add them at the end.
- Pop first takes the person at the front off the queue.
Nobody is ever handed a team automatically. The queue tells you who asked first; giving out the seat is still your call.
What your members see
The teams board in Discord carries a Join Waitlist button whenever this switch is on. Anyone without a team who presses it is added to the queue in the order they pressed, and gets a private confirmation. Somebody who already has a team gets a private "you already have a team" instead — and that includes anybody who claimed a team on the claim board, even if they were never given a Discord team role.
A team counts as open when nobody holds its Discord team role. Members can also type /open_teams in Discord to see every open team.
If you have not posted the teams board yet, it is set up at the top of this same tab: the Teams Board card, where you pick a Board Channel and click Save board config.
Common problems
- Nobody can find the Join Waitlist button. This switch is off. That is the only thing that removes it; how many seats are free makes no difference.
- One member cannot use the button. They already have a team, so pressing it just tells them so — including a team claimed on the claim board.
- The button is still showing but the waitlist is off. An old board keeps its buttons until it next refreshes. Pressing one gets a polite refusal, and the button disappears when the board redraws.
- My waitlist emptied itself. People who take a team come off the queue automatically. That is the queue working, not losing anybody.
- I can't see this setting. It sits on the Teams page, under the Team Assignments tab. If you are a helper rather than the licence owner, you only see the tabs the owner has granted you — that is managed under Front Office, on the League Access tab.
