How do I turn on Give the Inactive role automatically?
With Activity Tracking on, the bot hands your Inactive role, once a day, to everyone who has been completely silent for longer than your quiet-days limit. Be slower with this one than with its opposite — it labels people publicly.
Where to find it
On the website: open your league, click Moderation in the sidebar, open the Active Check tab, and scroll to the Activity Tracking card.
In the app: More → Moderation → pick Active Check from the "Choose a section" menu → the Activity Tracking card.
What it does
Once a day, the bot gives the Inactive role to everyone who has said and done nothing — no messages, no reactions, no voice chat — for longer than Quiet For This Long Is Inactive allows. It takes the Active role off them at the same time.
Step by step
- Pick an Inactive Role under Front Office → Special Roles.
- Go to Moderation → Active Check and find the Activity Tracking card.
- Open What Counts As Active and set Quiet For This Long Is Inactive to a number you are comfortable defending. It starts at 14 days.
- Tell your league what the role means before you turn anything on.
- Turn on both Activity Tracking switches — the master one on the Features page and the one on this card — check Give The Inactive Role is on, and press Save Activity Tracking.
Think before you switch it on
This one is public. A member who is quiet but playing every game does not enjoy being labelled inactive in front of the league, and that conversation is much harder than picking a generous number first.
Start with the quiet-days limit longer than you think you need — 14 days is the starting value for a reason — and shorten it later if the role is not catching anyone. The sweep runs once a day, and it takes the role back off as soon as somebody is active again.
Common problems
- Half my league got the role overnight. Your quiet-days limit is too short. Turn the switch off, raise the number, save, and turn it back on.
- The bot cannot add the role. The bot's own role has to sit above the Inactive role in Discord's role list.
- Somebody came back and still has it. It clears on the next daily sweep once they are active again.
- Can I exempt somebody? Not from this switch. Commissioners tend to handle known absences by hand instead.
- I can't see the Moderation page. If you are a helper rather than the licence owner, the owner grants access under Front Office → League Access.
