How do I set up Messages needed to count as active?
Messages Needed is the fewest messages somebody has to post this week to count as active. It starts at 5. Counting starts over every Sunday (US Eastern time), so the number you set is a per-week bar. Set it to zero and messages stop counting.
Where to find it
On the website: open your league, click Moderation in the sidebar, open the Active Check tab, scroll to the Activity Tracking card, and open What Counts As Active.
In the app: More → Moderation → pick Active Check from the "Choose a section" menu → the Activity Tracking card → What Counts As Active.
What it does
The fewest messages a member must post to be counted active. It sits alongside three companions — Reactions Needed, Voice Minutes Needed and Roster Moves Needed — and a member has to clear every bar you have set above zero. Any of them set to zero simply stops counting.
Step by step
- Go to Moderation → Active Check and open What Counts As Active on the Activity Tracking card.
- Set Messages Needed to a number your quietest genuine member would still clear in a week. Most leagues land between 5 and 15.
- Press Save Activity Tracking, and watch how it lands for a week before turning on Give The Active Role.
Pick for your quietest real member, not your loudest
The number that matters is the one a genuine but quiet member clears comfortably. Somebody who plays all their games on time and says little in chat is active in every sense that matters to a league, and a bar set for your chattiest members will leave them without the Active role.
The counts start over every Sunday, so early in the week almost nobody has cleared the bar yet — the daily hand-out catches them up as the week fills in.
Common problems
- Good members are missing the Active role. The bar is set for your talkative members. Lower it.
- Everybody clears it instantly. The bar is too low to mean anything. Raise it.
- Do game results count? Not as messages. Roster moves have their own bar — Roster Moves Needed — if you want playing to count.
- Does falling short mark somebody inactive? No. It only keeps them off the Active list. Inactive is decided by Quiet For This Long Is Inactive, which is about total silence.
- I can't see the Moderation page. If you are a helper rather than the licence owner, the owner grants access under Front Office → League Access.
