How do I turn on Auto-create trade discussion thread?
You do not need to. Trades open their own discussion thread automatically, and there is no working switch that stops them. A switch for this exists on the Teams page, and it saves, but it is not connected to anything — threads open either way.
Where the switch is
On the website: open Teams in the sidebar, then the Trades tab. The switch sits on the Trade Threads card: Open a discussion thread on every trade.
On your phone: More → Teams → Choose a section → Trades.
We tell you where it is so you can stop looking for it, not because flipping it changes anything.
What actually happens
Every trade opens a thread on its own, and the shape depends on the channel it lands in:
- A forum channel — the trade becomes its own forum post, with the trade card as the first message. This is the cleanest result.
- An ordinary text channel — the trade card posts into the channel, and the bot then opens a thread hanging off it. If it is not allowed to create public threads there, you get the trade card with no thread.
Which channel it uses is the Forum channel picker on the same Trades tab, under Channels. If that picker is empty, leagues set up in older versions may still post through a trade channel chosen back then. With no trade channel set anywhere, the trade does not post publicly at all.
So the setting that decides where trade discussion happens is a channel picker, not a switch.
If you genuinely do not want threads
There is no clean way to switch them off. The nearest thing is to have trades post into an ordinary text channel where the bot is not allowed to create public threads — the card still posts and the thread simply fails to open. That is a blunt instrument and we would not recommend it over just letting the threads happen.
Common problems
- No thread appeared. Either no trade channel is set, so nothing posted at all, or the trade posted into a text channel the bot cannot open threads in. Check the Forum channel picker under Channels on the Trades tab first.
- I cannot find the Trades tab. It hides when the feature is off. Turn on Trades on the Features page and the tab comes back.
- Old trades did not get threads. Nothing goes back over trades that already posted.
