How do I use DM Settings?
Three switches that decide what the bot messages the licence owner about directly in Discord, without them having to check the dashboard. Tick what you want and press Save DM Settings — the switches save together.
Where to find it
- Open the sidebar → Extras → DM Settings tab. On a phone, open More, tap Extras, and pick DM Settings from the Choose a section dropdown.
What this tab is for
Nothing here changes how your league runs. These are purely "tell me when this happens" switches — you will see all of it on the dashboard either way.
- Expiring Soon — a Discord message seven days before the licence runs out. Starts switched on.
- Licence Taken Away — a message the moment the licence is taken away. Starts switched on.
- When Our Staff Change Something — a message if our staff edit anything on your server. Starts switched off, on purpose — it is there for people who want it. A record is kept either way.
Leave the two licence ones on. Losing a licence without warning stops the bot for everybody in the league.
Step by step
- Open Extras → DM Settings.
- Set the switches how you want them.
- Press Save DM Settings. Flipping a switch and navigating away changes nothing — the save button is what saves.
The messages go to the licence owner, not to whoever ticked the box
This is the single most common misunderstanding here.
These messages are always sent to the person who owns the licence. If you are a commissioner who has been given access to this tab, you can change the switches — but the messages arrive in the owner's Discord, not yours. That is deliberate: they are about the subscription, and the subscription belongs to the owner.
Where the upgrade-done ping went
The old version of this screen had a fourth switch that tagged a member when their upgrade request was completed. That is an XP setting, not a DM setting, so it no longer lives here — it lives with the rest of the upgrade settings in the XP Hub, where the channel for those pings is called Upgrade Finished Pings on the Rules & Setup tab.
Common problems
- I ticked a box and never got a message. Check who owns the licence. If it is not you, the message went to them.
- I ticked a box and nothing saved. Press Save DM Settings — the switches only save when you do.
- The bot cannot message me at all. Discord will not let a bot DM you if you have direct messages from server members switched off in your Discord privacy settings. That is a Discord setting, not one of ours.
