What is the Story Queue?

Stories your league's news feed wrote but has not published, because they did not clear its quality check yet. There is nothing to press. It is a window, not a control panel.

Updated 20 days ago

Where to find it

  1. Open the sidebar → Gameday → Newswire tab. On a phone, open More, tap Gameday, and pick Newswire from the Choose a section dropdown.
  2. Scroll to The Latest Stories and press Open the story archive.
  3. Click Candidates at the top of the archive — or press the Story Queue button, which also shows how many stories are waiting.

The link is labelled Candidates, but the page you land on is headed Newswire — Story Queue — same thing.

What this view is for

Answering the question "why didn't it write about that?".

The news feed does not publish everything it thinks of. Each possible story gets a quality score, and only the ones that clear the bar go out. The rest wait here, highest-rated first.

The table shows five columns: When the story was considered, Type of story, Voice of the reporter who drafted it, its Quality score, and the opening line of the Story itself.

It sorts itself out — you do not promote anything

There are no buttons on this view on purpose. Stories in the queue are published automatically once they pass the quality check. As your league plays more games and more happens, a story that was thin on Monday often becomes worth telling by Thursday, and goes out on its own.

So a long queue is not a backlog you need to clear. It is the bot's rough notes.

Step by step

  1. Open Gameday → Newswire and press Open the story archive.
  2. Click Candidates, or the Story Queue button.
  3. Read the table. That is all there is to do here.
  4. Back to newswire returns you to the published stories.

Common problems

  • It says "No stories pending". Everything the bot has thought of has already been published, or the league has not exported anything for it to think about. Both are normal.
  • A story I wanted is stuck here. There is no way to force it out, and that is deliberate — the quality check is what stops the feed filling up with filler nobody reads. If it stays low-scoring, the underlying event was probably too small to be a story.
  • The Quality number is low on everything. Usually a league that has only just started exporting. There is not much history yet to write an interesting story against.
  • It says "No league linked". The server has not connected a Madden league yet, so there is no feed at all.
  • There used to be a Duplicate Check section next to this. Removed in July 2026 — keeping the feed from repeating itself is handled automatically and was never something you set.
