The Detroit Lions defeated the Arizona Cardinals 33-20 in a Week 5 matchup of the 2026 season, improving their record and solidifying their position in the playoff hunt. With both teams looking to make a statement, the Lions came out on top behind a strong offensive performance. Jared Goff led the charge for Detroit, throwing for 282 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability to connect with his targets downfield. Jameson Williams was a standout receiver, racking up an impressive 149 receiving yards, proving to be a reliable option for Goff. Meanwhile, Carson Beck kept the Cardinals competitive with 73 rushing yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Lions' offensive firepower. Defensively, Aidan Hutchinson was a key factor for Detroit, notching 1.5 sacks and consistently pressuring the Arizona offense. The turning point came in the second half when Hutchinson's pressure led to a critical turnover, swinging momentum firmly in favor of the Lions. While Budda Baker's interception provided a glimmer of hope for Arizona, the Lions' defense held strong, ensuring their victory.
