The Riverside Roadrunners topped the Corona Centennial 31-10 in a dominating Week 9 matchup, solidifying their position in the playoff race. This victory not only boosts the Roadrunners' morale but also serves as a critical statement as the season approaches its final stretch. C.J. Stroud led the charge for Riverside with three touchdown passes, showcasing his accuracy and poise under pressure. Meanwhile, James Cook III delivered a stellar performance on the ground, racking up 104 rushing yards and providing a consistent offensive threat that kept the Centennial defense on their heels. Patrick Mahomes, though valiant in defeat, could only muster 178 passing yards, unable to spark his team’s offense effectively. Defensively, the Roadrunners were relentless, with Dane Belton recording five total tackles, JT Tuimoloau adding two sacks, and Fred Warner snagging an interception. The turning point came in the second quarter when Warner's interception halted a potential scoring drive from Corona, allowing Riverside to extend their lead and control the tempo for the remainder of the game. With this win, the Roadrunners demonstrated their defensive prowess and offensive efficiency, positioning themselves as a formidable contender in the league.
