In a thrilling season opener, the Los Angeles Rams narrowly defeated the San Francisco 49ers 24-21, kicking off the 2026 campaign with a hard-fought victory. Both teams showcased their talent, but the Rams ultimately held off the 49ers in a closely contested match that had playoff implications from the very start. Taylen Green led the 49ers' offensive charge, throwing for 218 yards and three touchdowns, demonstrating his ability to connect in the red zone. However, the Rams' Todd Gurley stole the show on the ground, racking up 143 rushing yards to keep the chains moving and maintain pressure on the San Francisco defense. Jordan Addison was a reliable target for the Rams, contributing 79 receiving yards that helped set up crucial scoring drives. Defensively, the Rams made significant plays that turned the tide in their favor. Jalen Redmond was a standout with three sacks, disrupting Green's rhythm and forcing key mistakes. The turning point came late in the game when the Rams’ defense held strong, denying the 49ers a chance to tie the game, cementing the victory and providing a promising start to their season.
