In a decisive Week 1 matchup of the 2026 season, the Los Angeles Chargers topped the Arizona Cardinals with a final score of 29-16. Both teams aimed to set the tone for the season, but it was the Chargers who emerged victorious, showcasing their offensive firepower and defensive prowess. Chargers running back Josh Jacobs led the ground attack with 79 rushing yards, helping to establish a balanced offensive strategy. For the Cardinals, quarterback Josh Allen threw for 256 yards and connected on one touchdown pass, while wide receiver Ladd McConkey shined with 97 receiving yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Chargers' balanced assault. Defensively, the Chargers made their presence felt, with Nate Landman leading the team in tackles with seven. Lukas Van Ness contributed to the defensive effort with a crucial sack, putting pressure on Allen at key moments. The turning point came in the second half when the Chargers' defense stifled a potential Cardinals scoring drive, allowing Los Angeles to maintain control and ultimately secure the win.
