In an exciting season opener, the Arizona Cardinals topped the Los Angeles Chargers 28-17, kicking off the 2026 season with a statement victory. Both teams were eager to start their campaigns on a high note, but it was the Cardinals who came through when it counted. Joe Milton led the charge for Arizona with two touchdown passes, showcasing his ability to find the end zone in critical moments. Jeremiyah Love contributed significantly on the ground, racking up 72 rushing yards and helping to keep the Chargers' defense on their heels. Meanwhile, Justin Herbert put up impressive numbers for Los Angeles, throwing for 262 yards, but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Defensively, the Cardinals managed to contain the Chargers' offense effectively, forcing crucial turnovers and maintaining pressure. The game's turning point came when Arizona capitalized on a key interception, shifting momentum firmly in their favor. While Elijah Molden's seven tackles stood out for Los Angeles, it was the inability to stop the Cardinals' scoring drives that ultimately sealed their fate in this opening matchup.
