How do I use Trades → Settings?

Every rule trading runs on, in one place: how many votes a trade needs, what share must say yes, whether XP can be part of a deal, which four channels things post in, and which roles can vote.

Where to find it

On the website: press Teams in the sidebar, then the Trades tab, press Trade Moderation at the bottom, then open the Settings tab.

In the app: tap More → Teams, pick Trades from the Choose a section dropdown, press Trade Moderation, then pick Settings.

The same rules can also be changed card by card right on the Teams Hub's Trades tab — see How do I use the Trades page?. Both places edit the same settings.

Voting rules

Minimum votes required is the number of yes votes a trade needs before it can pass at all. A trade with one yes and no noes is not approved if you asked for five votes — it is simply still waiting.

Approval percentage is the share of the votes actually cast that must be yes. Fifty percent is the lowest you can set it; a hundred means unanimous.

The two work together, and that is what catches people out. Set eight votes and eighty percent in a twelve-man league and most trades will quietly never resolve, because nobody votes on other people's trades that often. Six and sixty is a much more common shape.

XP in trades

Three settings that let XP be part of a deal rather than just players and picks.

Allow XP in trades is the switch. Max XP per trade is the ceiling on one deal — setting it to zero turns XP off entirely, whatever the switch says. XP reward per vote pays a member for voting, the first time they vote on a trade; they cannot earn it again by changing their mind, and zero turns it off.

If your league has the XP system switched off, this whole card is dimmed with a note saying so. The boxes still remember your numbers — they are not wiped — they simply do nothing until XP is back on.

The four channels

These are four different jobs and it is worth being clear which is which, because leagues routinely set one and wonder why the others do nothing.

  • Trade-block channel — a running feed. Every time a team lists a player, a new post lands here with an @everyone. One post per listing.
  • Trade-market channel — one single post the bot keeps rewriting, listing every player on every block, sorted by rating, split into Offense, Defense and Special Teams. A board, not a feed.
  • Forum channel — where each new trade gets its own thread to be voted in. Trades need a Forum channel so each trade gets its own voting thread — the picker only offers real Discord forum channels, so an ordinary text channel is refused rather than silently accepted. No forum channel yet? Use + New forum channel right in the picker, or the Need a channel? panel at the foot of this tab.
  • Announcement channel — where the result lands once a trade is approved or vetoed.

No channel is required. Leave one empty and that one thing simply does not post.

That is newly true of the forum and announcement channels. They used to fall back: a blank forum picker still put the trade somewhere else, so a league had no way to stop the public post at all. It does not do that any more. If your trades were posting publicly without you ever picking a forum channel, they have stopped — pick the channel here and they come back.

Two of the four have their own switch, next to the picker:

  • Post trades publicly — on unless you turn it off. Off, a trade is still filed and still votable from the dashboard, but no card, no thread and no public post go out. The channel you picked is kept.
  • Announce in that channel — on unless you turn it off. Off, the announcement channel stays quiet: no new-trade shout, no approved or vetoed notice. The channel you picked is kept.

Press Save channels when you have set them.

If you have not made the channels yet, there is a Need a channel? panel at the foot of this tab that will create one for you. It only appears on this tab, because this is the only tab with channel boxes on it.

Roles

Voter role turns voting into a committee — only members with that role cast votes that count. Leave it empty and anybody with a team role can vote.

This includes you, the commissioner. Setting a voter role does not automatically add commissioners to the committee — if you want to be able to vote, put your own role (or yourself) on the voter role too. Skip this and you'll get "Only committee members (the voter role) can vote on trades" the first time you try.

League Voice lets everybody else vote anyway, counted separately, so the league can make its feeling known without changing what the committee decided. It needs a voter role to be set; without a committee there is nobody for it to be separate from.

Notify role is pinged when a new trade is proposed.

Vote-ban role is the opposite of the voter role: anybody holding it cannot vote, even if they also hold the voter role or a team role. It exists so you can bench somebody from voting without taking their team away.

Trade deadline and one-at-a-time

Trade deadline active is the same switch as the banner on the Moderation tab. Turned on, no new trade can be filed until it goes off again; trades already filed carry on voting.

Limit each team to one open trade stops a team stacking offers — with a trade pending they can neither send nor receive another until it resolves.

Common problems

  • I saved and my channels came back empty. They should not. Every box on this tab is submitted whether or not you touched it, so saving keeps what is there. If a channel really has gone, it was set to "— none —".
  • Trades stopped posting publicly. Check Post trades publicly first, then check the Forum channel is set. A blank forum channel no longer falls back to posting somewhere else — that fallback was removed, so blank now genuinely means no public post.
  • The forum channel list is short. It only offers real Discord forum channels, because a thread per trade cannot be made anywhere else. Create a forum channel in Discord — or use the Need a channel? panel at the foot of this tab.
  • My XP card is greyed out. The league's XP system is off. That is the note under the heading.
  • Trades never resolve. Almost always the votes-and-percentage combination is too strict for how many people actually vote. Lower the minimum votes first.
  • I set a voter role and now nobody can vote. Only that role counts now. Either give the role out, clear the box, or turn League Voice on so everybody else can still be heard.
  • Save failed. The page says which number was out of range. Votes go 1 to 50 and the percentage 50 to 100.
