What it does
/wager lets you bet XP directly against your scheduled opponent for the week. No house, no parlay — just you, them, and a winner-takes-all stake.
You challenge, they accept (or decline), and when the game finishes the bot pays out automatically based on the final score. The shipped range is 25 XP up to 100,000 XP per challenge, and your league can narrow it — the amount is checked against your league's own minimum and maximum, and an out-of-range figure comes back naming both numbers.
This pairs with /bet (parlay-style sports betting against the house) — they're independent systems. /wager is for trash talk; /bet is for the long grind.

Common questions
Q: My opponent has no Discord account linked — can I still wager? A: No. Both sides need to be linked to Discord users (via team-role assignment or the commish setting their EA name). Ping a commish if your matchup is unassignable.
Q: What if the game ends in a tie? A: Stake refunds to both sides. Nobody wins, nobody loses.
Q: I challenged the wrong person — can I cancel?
A: While it's pending, the challenger can decline-cancel from /wager pending. Once both sides accept, it's locked in until the game finishes.
Q: When does it pay out? A: After the EA export shows your game with a final result. Usually right after the league advances; sometimes a few minutes later depending on refresher timing. The XP lands automatically — no claim needed.
Q: How much can I put on one wager? A: Whatever your league allows. Out of the box that is 25 XP at the bottom and 100,000 XP at the top; a commissioner can set a tighter minimum and maximum for the league. The refusal message always names the range in force, so you never have to guess.
Before 2026-09-07 the /bet wager create door registered a hard 25–1000 in Discord itself, which silently blocked anything over 1,000 XP no matter what the league had configured. Both doors now register the same numbers and check the league's own range at runtime.
