What it does
/player is the league-roster lookup. Two modes: pull up a single player's card (ratings, contract, dev trait, stats), or list every player matching a search across the entire league. Autocomplete drives both — start typing a name and Discord narrows the list in real time.
How to use
/player get player:<name> — Show one player's card
/player list players:<query> — List every player matching a search
Examples
/player get player:Jalen Hurts— full card: position, OVR, dev trait, key ratings, contract, season stats./player get player:Patrick— autocomplete narrows to every "Patrick" in the league; pick the one you want./player list players:Smith— every Smith on every roster, sortable by team and position./player list players:CB— list-style view of cornerbacks across the league.
On the card
- Overall + position + age + team
- Dev trait, archetype, X-Factor / Superstar marks
- Top ratings by position
- Contract years left + cap hit
- Season stats (if there's a sync recent enough)
Common questions
Q: The autocomplete shows the wrong player.
A: The search is against the EA league export, so it surfaces every roster — type more of the name (first + last) to narrow. The displayed format is TEAM POS FirstName LastName.
Q: The card shows "no stats yet" for a starter. A: Stats come from the most recent Companion app export. If your league hasn't exported this week, the card has ratings + contract but no fresh stats. Push a fresh export from the Madden Companion app to refresh.
Q: How is this different from /freeagents or /compare?
A: /freeagents filters to unsigned-only players. /compare puts two players side-by-side. /player is the canonical "show me this player" command.
Q: Can I see a player not on a roster (e.g. drafted but cut)? A: Only players present in the current EA export are searchable. Cut players drop out on the next sync.
