What it does
/open_teams lists every franchise in your league that currently has no human GM — teams that have been opened up by the commish, vacated due to inactivity, or just never claimed. For prospective owners, this is the "what can I have" view; for commishes, it's the "what's still empty" check.
How to use
/open_teams — Show every team without an active GM
/open_teams view:Graphic — Post a shareable picture of the same list
Each open team shows:
- Team name + city + abbreviation
- Current record (or "preseason" if the year hasn't started)
- A claim button (subject to your league's claim rules)
view:Graphic posts one picture with every open team, its record and its top players — ready to share on Facebook or Reddit. Leave view off (or pick List) for the normal in-Discord list.
Common questions
Q: I see a team listed but I can't claim it. A: Your league may require commish approval for new GMs, or you may already own a team (one-team-per-user is the default). Check with the commish.
Q: How does a team get marked "open"? A: Three ways: (1) commish marks it open from the dashboard's Team Console, (2) the inactivity detector auto-opens a team after the configured warning + grace period, (3) the previous owner left the server.
Q: How does a commish manage open / closed teams?
A: Through the dashboard's Team Console (/commish/:guildId/team_console). The old /teams slash command was retired in the Wave-13 rework — the dashboard is now the source of truth for team-board configuration.
Q: A team I want isn't here. A: It's already claimed. Check the league directory or the dashboard's team page to see the current GM. The dashboard's Team Console has a waitlist surface — ask a commish to add you so you're first-in-line if it opens up.
