What it does
/gotw runs the league's Game of the Week tradition: pick a marquee matchup, post it for league voting, lock in picks, then post results once the game finishes. A running leaderboard tracks who's correctly picked the most weeks across the season.
Admins configure the channels and admin role once via /gotw setup. After that, posting and closing the weekly GOTW is a one-button flow on the panel.
How to use
/gotw post — (admin) Pick a week + matchup, open voting
/gotw setup [admin_role] [channel]
[results_channel] [admin_channel]
[leaderboard_channel] — (admin) Configure GOTW
/gotw leaderboard post — Create/refresh the leaderboard embed
/gotw help — Show GOTW help
Examples
/gotw setup admin_role:@League Office channel:#gotw results_channel:#gotw-results leaderboard_channel:#gotw-leaderboard— one-time wiring. Picks live in#gotw, finals + leaderboard live elsewhere./gotw post— pick this week, pick the matchup from the dropdown, hit confirm. League votes via reactions/buttons until you close it./gotw leaderboard post— refreshes the season-long pick standings.
How picks work
- Admin runs
/gotw post, selects week + game. - Bot posts the matchup embed with team logos, kickoff info, and pick buttons.
- Members click their pick. The bot records one pick per user, last click wins.
- Once the game is reported in EA's hub, admin closes the GOTW — winning pickers get a credit on the leaderboard.
Common questions
Q: I posted a GOTW but the pick buttons did nothing.
A: Make sure your admin role is set via /gotw setup — without it, only Discord administrators can post, but vote handling needs the GOTW channel to match the configured channel.
Q: Can I run multiple GOTWs at once? A: One active GOTW per week. Posting a new one before closing the current one warns and asks for confirmation.
Q: The leaderboard doesn't include last season. A: Leaderboards are season-scoped. Each new league season starts fresh.
Q: What channels do I really need?
A: At minimum a single channel for the public poll. results_channel, admin_channel, and leaderboard_channel are optional — they default to the poll channel if unset.
