What it does
/freeagents filters the league roster to unsigned players — every available free agent across every position. Use it to scout before the next league sign window, find a fill-in starter after a release, or check who's left in a thin position group.
Results pull from the most recent EA league export, so the list matches whatever the Companion app sees for "FA" in your franchise.
How to use
/freeagents [position]
position— optional. Filter to a single position (QB, WR, CB, etc.). Omit to see the full free-agent pool.
Examples
/freeagents— every unsigned player, sortable by OVR./freeagents position:QB— only available quarterbacks./freeagents position:CB— corner-needy team scanning the FA pool.
Notes
- The free-agent pool is league-wide, not team-specific. Anyone with an export-synced roster can browse it.
- The list shows OVR, dev trait, age, and asking salary (if surfaced by the export).
- This is a quick lookup — for the full player card (contract, ratings breakdown, stats), use
/player get player:<name>after spotting a name you like.
Common questions
Q: A player I just released isn't in the list. A: Roster changes apply on the next sync. Re-export from the Madden Companion app and the list refreshes.
Q: Can I sign a free agent through this command?
A: No — signings happen in-game in Madden. /freeagents is read-only scouting. Once you sign someone in the Companion app and export, the bot picks them up under their new team.
Q: I see a free agent on another team's roster. A: Stale data. The league sync hasn't caught up since the signing. Re-export.
Q: How is this different from /player list players:FA?
A: Same data, different framing. /freeagents is the dedicated FA lens with an optional position filter. /player list is the general search; running it with a "FA" or position query produces a similar set.
Q: Why is the list empty for QB?
A: Sometimes the FA pool runs dry at a position — especially mid-season after waivers. Check /freeagents without a filter to confirm the league still has signed-out players generally.
