What it does
/compare runs a head-to-head comparison. Pick players to put two players side by side — ratings, abilities, dev trait, season stats, with a clear winner indicator on each line. Pick teams to put two franchises side by side — record, schedule strength, roster overall, key positions.
This is the one-stop compare command. The old standalone /team_compare is gone — team comparisons now live under /compare teams.
How to use
/compare players player1:<name> player2:<name> — Head-to-head player comparison
/compare teams [team1:<abbr>] [team2:<abbr>] — Head-to-head team comparison
/compare players— both player names are required. Auto-complete drives the picker: type any part of a name and the bot suggests the top matches with their team, position, and full name. Pick the right one if there are duplicates./compare teams— both team args are optional. Provide nothing and the bot opens a dropdown to pick both teams. Provide them with auto-complete to skip the dropdown.
Examples
/compare players player1:Mahomes player2:Allen— QB vs QB./compare players player1:CMC player2:Bijan— RB comparison, even across teams./compare teams team1:DAL team2:PHI— division-rival snapshot./compare teams— no args; pick both from the dropdown menu.
A few things to know
- The player view is paginated across pages (overview / offensive ratings / defensive ratings / abilities & traits / stats). Pages shown depend on the two players' positions.
- The team view shows record, current power ranking, roster overall, offensive and defensive strengths, and key matchup notes if the two have played each other this season.
- Both views post publicly — the whole channel sees the embed. Page navigation is done with buttons on the message.
- Winner indicators flip when "lower is better" (40 time, age, etc.).
Common questions
Q: Auto-complete shows a player from the wrong team. A: A player might have been traded mid-week. Pick the right entry from the dropdown, or re-run after the next EA league export catches up.
Q: Can I compare three players or three teams?
A: No. /compare is strictly pairwise. For top-N rankings across a position, use /leaders.
Q: The two players have the same overall but the comparison says one is clearly better. Why? A: Overall is a summary. The attribute breakdown is where the real edges show — a 90 OVR receiver with elite speed beats a 90 OVR receiver with elite catching in matchup-specific ways. That's exactly what compare is for.
Q: What happened to /team_compare?
A: Retired. The team comparison is now /compare teams. Same flow, same data, just consolidated under the one command.
Q: Can I save or export a comparison? A: Screenshot is the easy path. For a more permanent view, the dashboard's player and team pages have richer detail than what fits in an embed.
