What it does
/balance posts a public embed listing every team in the league — both AFC and NFC — with each team's current XP wallet. It's the fastest way to see the league-wide pecking order: who's hoarding for a big upgrade, who just got crushed by tax, and who's trending up after a win streak.
The numbers are the same balances backing /upgrade, /parlay, and /bet. Whatever shows here is what each team will spend against when they pull the trigger.
How to use
/balance
No options. The command always returns the full 32-team picture — both conferences, grouped by division, in a single embed.
Examples
/balance— see every team's XP, sorted by conference then division.
The output groups teams by AFC / NFC and division (East / North / South / West), so it doubles as a quick standings-adjacent view when you're scouting trade opportunities.
Notes
- Balances reflect everything the ledger has settled: game-result credits, upgrade spends, bet wins/losses, donations, and admin adjustments. Pending upgrades (still awaiting commish approval) have already debited the balance — they don't double-count when settled.
- Balances don't carry across leagues. Each Discord guild has its own XP economy.
- If a team doesn't show up, it usually means the guild's team-role mapping is missing that team. Commish can fix via
/madden-setup team-roleor the dashboard. - The Wave-13 rework dropped the old
conference:option — a single embed comfortably fits all 32 teams.
Common questions
Q: Why are some balances negative?
A: Tax overdraft is allowed for in-flight upgrades — the ledger temporarily dips below zero until the next credit lands. Persistent negatives usually mean an admin used /xp adjust to claw back a wrong grant.
Q: Can I see one team only?
A: Not via /balance — it's a league-wide view. Use /profile for the focused view of your own team, or the dashboard for the full per-team breakdown.
Q: Why aren't the totals matching what the dashboard shows? A: The dashboard pulls from the same Firestore ledger, so they should match within a second or two of any change. If they're persistently different, ping a commish.
Q: Does running this cost XP?
A: No. All read-only views (/balance, /prices, /standings, /leaders) are free.
