What it does
/alerts is a one-switch toggle for receiving personal pings whenever the bot detects roster updates in your league after an EA Madden export — trades, releases, signings, dev-trait promotions, retirements, anything that changes who's where.
When enabled, the bot DMs you a summary right after each sync. When disabled, you stay silent — but the league channels and the dashboard still surface the same changes for anyone who wants to look.
This replaces the old /alerts manage / list / admin_clear subcommand tree with a single enabled boolean.
How to use
/alerts enabled:<true|false>
The enabled option is required.
Examples
/alerts enabled:true— start getting roster-update DMs./alerts enabled:false— stop getting them.
The setting is per-user, per-guild. If you're in multiple leagues, set it in each league separately.
Notes
- Pings fire after every successful EA league export — usually once per week at the league-advance, sometimes more if your league exports between weeks.
- DMs only. If you have the bot blocked or your privacy settings reject server-DMs, the bot drops the message silently (no fallback to a channel).
- The previous
/alerts managepanel (with per-player watch scopes and attribute filters) was retired in the Wave-13 rework — it was over-engineered for the actual usage. If a more granular notification surface comes back, it'll be a separate command.
Common questions
Q: I enabled but never got pinged even though changes happened. A: Check that (1) the league has done an export since the change, and (2) you allow DMs from server members. If both check out, ping a commish — the EA refresher might have stalled.
Q: Can I get pinged for just one player or one team? A: Not in the current build. The toggle is all-or-nothing per league.
Q: How do I see roster changes if I keep alerts off?
A: Roster-update embeds still post to the configured Roster Updates channel (set via the dashboard) for everyone in the league. /alerts is a personal-DM convenience layer on top of that.
Q: Is there an admin override to clear everyone's alerts? A: No. The admin clear-all subcommand was retired with the rework — each user manages their own toggle.
