[Admin] /active check posts an Active Check embed; /active status shows current state

What it does

/active is the league's roll-call. A commish runs it, the bot posts a check-in embed with an @everyone ping and a green check button, and everybody who clicks the button is marked active. Anyone who doesn't click before the timeout runs out is automatically swapped from the active role to the inactive role — no manual cleanup, no chasing people in DMs.

For owners, the workflow is one tap: see the embed, click the check, you're good for the next cycle. For commishes, it's one command per check-in plus a status view to see who's still pending.

How to use

/active check — Post a fresh Active Check embed in the configured channel
/active status — See the current Active Check state for this server
  • /active check — posts the embed, pings the whole server, opens the timer window. Until the window closes, every click on the check button records the user as active. When the timer runs out, anyone who didn't click loses the active role and gets the inactive role instead.
  • /active status — shows whether a check is currently open, how much time is left, how many owners have responded, and how many are still pending. Use it between cycles to plan the next nudge.

The channel, timeout length, and active/inactive role assignments are configured once via /madden-setup special-roles and /madden-setup activity. After that, just running /active check is enough.

What you'll see as an owner

  • The embed pings @everyone with a short message and a single green check button.
  • Click the check — the bot replies privately with "you're marked active" and you're done.
  • Don't click before the timer expires — the bot quietly swaps your role from active to inactive. You can be put back to active by your commish (or by responding to the next check).

Common questions

Q: I clicked the check but nothing happened publicly. Did it work? A: The confirmation is private to you on purpose so the channel doesn't get spammed. As long as you got the private "you're marked active" reply, you're good.

Q: I missed the window — am I stuck as inactive forever? A: No. Your commish can either restore your active role manually or just run /active check again the next cycle. Responding to the next one puts you back in good standing.

Q: Does the inactive role mean I'm getting booted? A: Not automatically. The role is a flag — it shows the commish who's been quiet, but the consequences (booting, opening the team, etc.) are still a commish decision.

Q: Can a regular player run /active check? A: No. Both subcommands are admin-only. Players only ever click the button on the embed.

Q: Where do I change the timeout or the channel? A: /madden-setup activity sets the timeout and tracking-days settings; /madden-setup special-roles sets the active and inactive roles. Both are also editable from the dashboard.

Q: What happens if I'm on multiple teams or have no team role? A: Active Check tracks Discord users, not team roles, so it works the same for everyone with access to the channel. Owners without team roles can still click in and stay flagged active.
