In a dominant performance to kick off the 2026 season, the San Francisco 49ers cruised to a 31-7 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. This matchup was critical for both teams, aiming to establish momentum early in the season. The 49ers' robust showing sets a strong tone as they look to contend for the playoffs. Christian McCaffrey led the charge for San Francisco, rushing for an impressive 112 yards, complementing the offensive efforts with a balanced attack. Meanwhile, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 292 yards and a touchdown, but struggled to find the end zone beyond his lone scoring pass. Puka Nacua stood out as well, racking up 133 receiving yards in a losing effort. On the defensive side, the 49ers showcased their prowess with Fred Warner snagging two interceptions, a crucial factor in limiting the Rams’ scoring opportunities. Marques Sigle also contributed significantly with six total tackles, helping to stifle the Rams' running game. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Warner's second interception shifted momentum firmly in favor of San Francisco, setting the stage for a commanding win.
