In a commanding performance, the New England Patriots topped the New York Jets 42-20 in Week 16 of the 2026 season, solidifying their playoff ambitions. The victory not only showcased the Patriots' offensive prowess but also served as a crucial stepping stone as they aim for a postseason berth. Drake Maye led the charge for New England, throwing for an impressive 389 yards and six touchdowns, a remarkable display of efficiency and precision. His primary target, Kyle Williams, delivered a standout performance with 159 receiving yards, consistently finding space in the Jets' secondary and converting critical third downs. Together, they formed a dynamic duo that kept the Jets' defense on their heels throughout the contest. Defensively, the Patriots were formidable, with Erick Hunter leading the team in tackles, totaling seven. While the Jets managed to put up a fight with Breece Hall's 83 rushing yards, the game turned decisively in the Patriots' favor when Maye threw a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter, effectively putting the game out of reach. The Jets' inability to respond led to a one-sided affair, leaving New England with a clear path forward as they head into the final stretch of the season.
