In a tightly contested matchup, the Washington Commanders secured a 20-14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2 of the 2027 season. Both teams were looking to build momentum early in the season, but it was the Commanders who emerged on top, showcasing their resilience at home. Joe Burrow had a solid outing for the Falcons, throwing for 240 yards and a touchdown, but it was Bijan Robinson who stole the show for Washington with a dominant ground performance, racking up 104 rushing yards. Michael Wilson led the Falcons in receiving with 86 yards, but the Atlanta offense struggled to find the end zone, ultimately falling short in their efforts. Defensively, the Commanders made crucial plays to secure the win, with Nick Herbig leading the way with two sacks that disrupted Burrow’s rhythm throughout the game. The turning point came in the fourth quarter when Herbig's second sack led to a turnover on downs, allowing Washington to maintain their lead and control the clock, sealing the victory.
