In a decisive matchup in Week 9 of the 2027 season, the Detroit Lions topped the Minnesota Vikings with a final score of 33-16, solidifying their position in the playoff hunt. Both teams entered the game with high stakes, but it was the Lions who seized control, showcasing a potent offensive performance. Malik Willis led the charge for Detroit, throwing for 228 yards and displaying poise in the pocket. The ground game was equally impressive, with De'Von Achane racking up 118 rushing yards, keeping the Vikings' defense on its heels. DK Metcalf contributed significantly as well, hauling in 73 receiving yards to help propel the Lions' scoring efforts. Defensively, the Lions managed to stifle the Vikings' momentum, forcing them into tough situations. The game’s turning point came midway through the third quarter when Detroit's defense held strong, allowing just a field goal while the offense responded with a touchdown drive that extended their lead. Despite some individual efforts from Minnesota, including Demario Davis' 12 tackles and Joe Milton's two touchdown passes, the Lions' balanced attack proved too much to overcome.
