In a commanding display to kick off the 2026 season, the New York Giants defeated the Dallas Cowboys 38-14. With both teams eager to start the season on a high note, the Giants established their dominance early, making a strong statement in front of their home crowd. Offensively, Sam Darnold shone for the Giants, throwing for two touchdowns and connecting on key plays throughout the game. Javonte Williams powered the running game with a solid 100 rushing yards, while Josh Downs emerged as Darnold's favorite target, racking up 122 receiving yards and consistently moving the chains. Defensively, the Giants were relentless, led by Quay Walker, who not only recorded 7 total tackles but also tallied an impressive 2.5 sacks. Jamel Dean contributed significantly with two interceptions, effectively stifling any momentum the Cowboys attempted to build. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Dean's second pick set up a touchdown that extended the Giants' lead to 24-7, putting the game out of reach for Dallas.
