In a pivotal Week 3 matchup of the 2028 season, the Los Angeles Chargers topped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a final score of 21-11. The victory solidifies the Chargers' position in the early season standings and showcases their potential as serious contenders in the league. Kareem Polite was the standout performer for the Chargers, throwing for two touchdowns and helping to propel his team to victory. Baker Mayfield of the Buccaneers logged 177 passing yards, but was unable to find the end zone, ultimately falling short of his opponent's offensive firepower. Emeka Egbuka led the receiving corps for Tampa Bay with 72 yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Chargers' balanced attack. Defensively, the Chargers made their mark with a dominant performance, led by Khalil Mack, who recorded 2.5 sacks and consistently pressured Mayfield throughout the game. R.J. Mickens also excelled, contributing five tackles and an interception, which was pivotal in stalling a Buccaneers' drive. The Chargers' defense set the tone for the game, particularly in the second half when they held Tampa Bay scoreless, allowing their offense to secure the win.
