In a commanding performance to kick off the 2028 season, the Washington Commanders topped the Los Angeles Rams 45-24. With both teams looking to establish their identities early, Washington's explosive offense proved too much for the Rams to handle. Maurice Jones-Drew led the charge for the Commanders, racking up an impressive 172 rushing yards, while his teammates complemented him with a balanced aerial attack. Matthew Stafford of the Rams threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns but found himself in a constant battle to keep pace with Washington's scoring. Defensively, the Commanders made their presence felt, with Quan Martin recording five total tackles and Trey Amos snagging an interception that shifted momentum. The game's turning point came when Amos's interception led to a quick touchdown, allowing Washington to seize control and ultimately secure the victory.
