In a thrilling opening to the 2028 season, the Detroit Lions topped the Minnesota Vikings with a commanding 45-28 victory. This win sets a strong tone for the Lions as they aim to build on last year's success, while the Vikings will look to regroup after a disappointing start. Vince Young delivered a stellar performance for Detroit, throwing for three touchdown passes and helping his team establish a potent offensive rhythm. Jahmyr Gibbs was a game-changer on the ground, racking up an impressive 174 rushing yards, consistently breaking through the Vikings' defensive front. Joe Milton showed resilience for Minnesota, throwing for 295 yards and keeping his team competitive, but it wasn’t enough to match the Lions' firepower. Detroit's defense played a crucial role in the outcome, with Aidan Hutchinson leading the charge with 2.5 sacks that disrupted Minnesota's offensive flow. The game turned decisively in the second quarter when Hutchinson's pressure forced a critical turnover, allowing the Lions to capitalize and widen their lead. Despite a late push from the Vikings, Detroit's defense held firm, sealing the victory and starting the season on a high note.
