The New York Jets kicked off the 2028 season with a thrilling 24-17 victory over the Buffalo Bills, marking a strong start to their campaign. With both teams eager to establish dominance in the division, the Jets managed to outlast their rivals in a closely contested battle. Kyler Murray shone in his season debut, throwing for 2 touchdowns while also showcasing his mobility and decision-making on key plays. Jonathan Taylor anchored the ground game with an impressive 103 rushing yards, consistently finding holes in the Bills' defense. Josh Allen, despite his valiant effort with 264 passing yards and a solid performance from receiver James Cook III, who tallied 87 receiving yards, could not lead his team to victory. Defensively, the Bills struggled to contain the Jets' explosive plays, but Lukas Van Ness stood out with 3 total tackles and 1.5 sacks, providing a bright spot for Buffalo's defense. However, the turning point came in the fourth quarter when the Jets' defense held strong, forcing a critical turnover that allowed them to maintain their lead. The Jets' ability to capitalize on key moments ultimately secured their season-opening win.
