The San Antonio Redwoods cruised to a commanding 44-9 victory over the Washington Commanders in Week 5 of the 2027 season. With the win, the Redwoods solidified their position in the league, showcasing their offensive firepower while leaving the Commanders struggling to find traction. Tyler Shough was the standout performer for San Antonio, throwing for an impressive 416 yards and three touchdowns. He found a reliable target in Chris Olave, who racked up a staggering 193 receiving yards, consistently breaking open for big plays. Meanwhile, Chris Johnson Jr. contributed significantly on the ground with 91 rushing yards, further bolstering the Redwoods' dominance. Defensively, the Redwoods applied pressure, but it was Washington's Frankie Luvu who shined with 1.5 sacks, attempting to disrupt San Antonio's rhythm. However, the turning point came early in the second quarter when the Redwoods scored back-to-back touchdowns, pushing their lead to 28-3 and effectively sealing the game. The Commanders' inability to respond to that offensive surge left them in a deep hole that they could not climb out of.
