In a thrilling season opener, the Miami Dolphins narrowly defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 18-17, kicking off the 2026 campaign with a dramatic finish. Both teams came into the game eager to make a statement, but it was Miami that ultimately emerged victorious in a tightly contested battle. Offensively, Joe Milton shone for the Raiders, throwing for 164 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability to lead the offense. However, it was De'Von Achane of the Dolphins who stole the spotlight on the ground with an impressive 93 rushing yards, providing Miami with the crucial yardage needed to control the pace of the game. Meanwhile, Dont'e Thornton Jr. made his presence felt for Las Vegas with 89 receiving yards, keeping the Raiders competitive until the final whistle. Defensively, the Dolphins made their mark with Michael Taaffe leading the charge, recording five total tackles to anchor the unit. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Miami's defense held strong, limiting Las Vegas to a field goal attempt rather than a potential game-winning touchdown. This critical stand allowed the Dolphins to secure the victory, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.
