In a decisive Week 3 matchup, the Washington Commanders secured a 27-17 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, marking a significant win early in the 2026 season. Both teams were looking to establish momentum, but it was Washington that emerged victorious, showcasing their ability to capitalize on key opportunities. Jayden Daniels led the offensive charge for the Commanders, throwing for a touchdown and contributing to a balanced attack. On the other side, Sam Darnold of the Seahawks put up 192 passing yards but was unable to find the end zone. Seattle's ground game featured Zach Charbonnet, who rushed for 62 yards, while Rashid Shaheed led the receiving corps with 67 yards, but it wasn't enough to keep up with Washington's scoring. Defensively, the Commanders managed to disrupt Seattle's rhythm, with Jer'Zhan Newton recording half a sack and the unit collectively putting pressure on Darnold. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Washington's defense forced a crucial turnover, allowing them to extend their lead just before halftime. Despite a valiant effort from the Seahawks, including a strong performance from Devon Witherspoon on defense, Washington's ability to make plays when it mattered most sealed the win.
