The San Francisco 49ers held off the Washington Commanders with a final score of 35-27 in a thrilling Week 6 matchup of the 2026 season. Both teams were looking to solidify their playoff aspirations, but it was the 49ers who came out on top in this high-stakes contest. Commanders quarterback Will Levis showcased his talent, throwing for 276 yards and three touchdowns, while Saquon Barkley contributed on the ground with 60 rushing yards. Jayden Higgins stood out as the primary target, racking up 104 receiving yards and proving to be a key component of Washington's offensive attack. Defensively, the 49ers made a critical impact with Andrew Van Ginkel's interception, which shifted momentum in favor of San Francisco. Despite solid performances from the Commanders' defense, including a sack from Brian Burns and four tackles from Henry To'oTo'o, it was the 49ers' ability to capitalize on key plays that ultimately sealed the victory. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the 49ers' defense stifled a potential game-tying drive, allowing them to secure the win.
