In a decisive Wildcard Round matchup, the Washington Commanders topped the Detroit Lions 31-17, advancing in the playoff hunt for the 2026 season. With both teams vying for postseason glory, Washington's victory solidified their status as a contender in the tournament. Quarterback Jordan Love led the way for the Commanders with a stellar performance, throwing for 268 yards and two touchdowns. His efficient passing allowed Washington to establish a comfortable lead, while the ground game contributed with key runs that kept the Lions' defense on its heels. Despite the efforts of Detroit's Jahmyr Gibbs, who rushed for 90 yards, it was Love's aerial attack that proved decisive. Defensively, the Lions struggled to contain the Commanders, with Christian Harris recording seven total tackles but unable to generate significant pressure. Tyleik Williams managed to notch a sack, yet Washington's offensive line held strong, allowing Love to find his rhythm. The turning point came in the second quarter when Love connected for a touchdown that extended Washington's lead, setting the tone for the rest of the game and leaving the Lions unable to mount a successful comeback.
