In a decisive opening matchup for the 2026 season, the Denver Broncos topped the Kansas City Chiefs with a final score of 28-16. Both teams were looking to make an early statement, but it was the Broncos who established control and secured the victory on the road. Bo Nix led the Broncos' offense with an efficient performance, throwing for 150 yards and two touchdowns. J.K. Dobbins was a key contributor on the ground, racking up 92 rushing yards and keeping the Chiefs' defense on its heels. Denver's balanced attack proved too much for Kansas City to handle, as they built a comfortable lead throughout the game. Defensively, the Broncos also made their mark, with Pat Surtain II recording three total tackles and grabbing an interception. The turning point came late in the first half when Surtain's pick halted a promising Chiefs drive, allowing Denver to extend their lead just before halftime. The Broncos' defense consistently pressured Kansas City, limiting their scoring opportunities and ultimately sealing the victory.
