In a tightly contested matchup, the San Francisco 49ers narrowly defeated the Los Angeles Rams 17-14 in Week 3 of the 2027 season. The victory not only boosts the 49ers' confidence but also keeps them in the hunt for playoff positioning early in the year. Brock Purdy was the standout performer for San Francisco, throwing for 332 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his poise and precision throughout the game. De'Zhaun Stribling emerged as his favorite target, racking up an impressive 156 receiving yards, while Christian McCaffrey added a solid 84 rushing yards to keep the Rams' defense on its toes. Defensively, the Rams struggled to contain Purdy's aerial assault, ultimately allowing key plays that shifted momentum. The turning point came in the fourth quarter when Purdy connected with Stribling for a crucial 50-yard reception, setting up the game-winning score. Despite Quentin Lake's efforts on defense with four total tackles and an interception, the Rams couldn’t halt the 49ers' offensive surge when it mattered most.
