In a thrilling Week 5 matchup, the San Francisco 49ers narrowly defeated the Seattle Seahawks by a score of 20-17, securing a crucial victory in their quest for playoff positioning. Both teams were eager to assert themselves in the competitive NFC West, but it was the 49ers who emerged victorious in a tightly contested battle. Brock Purdy showcased his skills, throwing for 222 yards and a touchdown, while Christian McCaffrey dominated on the ground with 119 rushing yards, keeping the Seahawks' defense on its heels. Mike Evans contributed significantly as well, leading the receiving corps with 81 yards, making key catches to sustain drives and put points on the board for San Francisco. Defensively, the 49ers made their presence felt, with Alfred Collins recording 1.5 sacks, disrupting Seattle's offensive flow. The game's turning point came in the fourth quarter when San Francisco's defense stepped up, forcing a critical turnover that shifted momentum back in their favor and allowed them to hold off a late Seahawks rally. Despite a valiant effort from Devon Witherspoon, who tallied eight tackles, it was not enough to secure the win for Seattle.
