In a commanding performance to kick off the 2026 season, the Philadelphia Eagles triumphed over the Washington Commanders with a final score of 24-2. This Week 1 matchup set the stage for both teams, but the Eagles quickly established their dominance on home turf, looking to build momentum early in the campaign. Jalen Hurts was the standout for Philadelphia, throwing for 243 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability to lead the offense effectively. Meanwhile, Saquon Barkley added a strong ground game, rushing for 112 yards, consistently moving the chains and keeping the Commanders' defense on their heels. The combination of Hurts’ aerial attack and Barkley’s rushing prowess proved to be too much for Washington. Defensively, the Eagles made key plays that shifted the momentum of the game, highlighted by Quinyon Mitchell's interception and Zack Baun's sack, which stifled any potential scoring drives from the Commanders. The turning point came when Philadelphia's defense forced a turnover deep in Commanders' territory, leading to a touchdown that pushed the lead to three scores, effectively sealing the game. Washington's lone safety did little to spark a comeback, as the Eagles maintained control throughout.
